Marske By The Sea.
Situated on the Coast line of the North Yorkshire National Park.

The name Marske comes from the word MERSC meaning marshy land which was the last stand of the Brits against William the Conqueror.

Marske By The Sea was the home of the Pennyman Family who raised an
army of volunteers to defeat Cromwell on these very beaches at Marske By The Sea.

Two great people to visit Marske By The Sea was Charles Dickins who came to see the unusual turrets at Marske Hall and Richard in the Fifties. One only stayed the night because his
Coachman had one too many Ales in Marske and the other was myself who stayed in Marske By The Sea for good.

Having spent over forty years in Marske By The Sea, I have become very
passionate of my home town of Marske. Please enjoy your visit to my website.
