Stray Cafe Redcar
First built in 1917 by the King Family. During the war years the Cafe was shut down and used by the
RAF as a training base. It has been said that Churchill had a coffee there. I know if
it had been the present leaseholder, Samantha, it would have been an excellent cup.
After the war before it was reopened as a cafe, it was used as a meeting house by the old Gentlemen of Redcar to have a good gossip.
The old building on a cold wintry day did not look too inviting. So in 2006 Samantha, who had been the leaseholder since 1988, applied to rebuild and in the summer of 2007 the present building was opened.
